Why You Should Buy UK Property ASAP!

The UK government announced reliefs on Stamp Duty Land Tax (the government tax paid on the purchase of land or property) in June 2020.

This means the amount of stamp duty buyers will pay on properties up to GBP500,000 will be reduced under certain criteria to zero. The stamp duty relief also applies to buy-to-let and 2nd or additional properties.

However the stamp duty ‘holiday’ currently only applies to purchases which COMPLETE on or before 31st March 2021. This has resulted in a dramatic increase in the demand for properties which are either completed or will complete before the deadline at the end of March 2021.

Non-Resident Buyers

Those who do not reside in the UK also benefit from the government’s reliefs, however the government has proposed charging overseas buyers an additional 2% stamp duty from April 2021. Non-resident buyers could therefore have to pay up to 17% stamp duty from April 2021.
